World Cup 2010 attracts Brazilian Ceramic Tiles Companies. Manufacturers of ceramic present new lines in South Africa


Brazil is one of the main players in worldwide ceramic coverings market. Besides it is the fourth biggest producer and exporter, the country is also the second largest consumer market in the world.

In 2005, Brazil exported 376 million in ceramic tiles to 136 countries, to all continents. From this total amount USD 19.58 million (5,21%) were designated to the South-African market, since it is the second largest buyer of Brazilian products.

Anfacer – Brazilian Association of Ceramic Tile Manufacturers, which represents the principal companies in the sector, considers there are large opportunities for business in South African market and also trust on and expressive growth in construction, motivated by the 2010 World Cup.

According to Mr Lauro Andrade Filho, Anfacer’s Director, “during the past five years, the Brazilian Sales to South Africa have doubled and we estimate a expansion of 50% in the next 3 years. In addition to this, South Africa is the entrance gate to dozens of countries in the African continent”.

Aware of the importance of South Africa several Brazilian entrepreneurs will take part in the main South African Construction Trade Show, Interbuild Africa, which will take place in Johannesburg from the 26th to the 29th July. The Brazilian Pavilion is supported by APEX – Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency.

Largest trade show for covering materials in Latin America
Anfacer will also promote in Africa the 5th edition of Revestir Trade Show ( , the biggest Latin-American event in covering solutions, which will happen from March 13th to 16th, 2007, at Sao Paulo, Brazil. Along with Revestir it will be held the 5th International Forum of Architecture and Construction and the 2nd edition of the Kitchen and Bath international show, an event specializing in kitchen and bath materials.
